 North Carolina Zoo

The North Carolina Zoo is located just outside Asheboro, North Carolina at the foot of the Uwharrie mountains.  A place to connect with wildlife from two continents with over five miles of trails where you can escape to the grasslands of Africa then to the arctic coast of North America.  More than 1,600 animals and 52,000 plants surround you on the shady trails. It takes around 4 to 6 hours to tour the entire zoo.  



Before you go:
Download Animal guides, Plant guides, Art at the Park guides
Check the weather to plan your outfit, you will be outside for the majority of your tour.

What to pack:
Sunscreen
Umbrella or Rain jacket
Camera
Binoculars
Food-Cafe's are available along with food carts along the Park trails. Picnic area available outside the park gate.

Don't forget to wear your walking shoes !!

When you arrive:
Parking- Free, North America or Africa parking lots with an entrance at each.
Animal Boards- Next to the admission booth will be animal status boards giving you feeding times.
